In addition to the duties and responsibilities of a physical therapist, we are seeking an experienced Physical Therapist to serve as a clinical resource to staff, provide input to clinical programming, and participate in departmental and hospital education programs and service excellence initiatives, under the direction of the Physical Therapy manager.
Job Duties:
- Clinical Support: Demonstrates advanced skills in patient assessment and treatment. Treats complex cases and serves as a clinical resource. Co-treats with physical therapists for mentorship.
- Education Programs: Assists in developing and participating in in-service education programs within the department, hospital, and community. Keeps current with practice guidelines.
- Program Development: Participates in program and service excellence projects.
- Patient Evaluation: Evaluates patients' physical abilities and impairments through history, physical exams, and appropriate tests. Interprets evaluations.
- Treatment Planning: Plans high-quality treatment programs, identifies goals, plans for discharge, and makes recommendations for treatment and equipment needs.
- Intervention: Provides skilled intervention using appropriate techniques/modalities. Monitors patient status and response, adjusts treatment as needed, and consults/refers as necessary.
- Communication: Conveys patient information to coworkers, supervisors, healthcare team, patients, and families appropriately.
- Administrative: Manages administrative aspects of patient care, including scheduling, billing, and insurance requirements. Ensures documentation follows department policy.
- Clinical Instruction: Provides clinical instruction to physical therapy students, plans daily schedules, assists in treatment program planning, and supervises student performance. Completes clinical performance instruments timely.
- Projects: Undertakes special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Criteria
- Physical Therapy experience working with orthopedic and spine patients including common post-surgical spine protocols.
- 3+ years PT clinical work experience.
- Appreciation for training and mentoring a diverse staff.
- Coursework/certification and working knowledge of the McKenzie approach to spine care.
- Strong manual therapy background, including coursework/certification from Maitland Concept or other manual therapy schools.
- Knowledge of and coursework/certification in the Schroth method for Scoliosis.
Required Criteria
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy.
- New York State Physical Therapist License
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification with American Heart Association.
- 2 years of previous professional experience as a practicing physical therapist.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient in providing direct patient care to young adult, adult, and geriatric patients.

Salary Range: $106,000-$152,000/Annual
